The Forbes-FIN philanthropy and leadership business conference was recently concluded. It was an interesting and anticipated event conducted by both Forbes and FIN (Foreign Investment Limited). Several top leaders, visionaries and philanthropists participated in this event. Dr. Rajan Mahtani, a famous and respected businessman from Zambia, was invited in this event as a honorary speaker. Dr. Mahtani spoke about the significance of leadership in healthcare. The Forbes-FIN event was held online as a result of the ongoing pandemic and members participated in the event from their respective locations. Along with the Forbes-FIN philanthropic and leadership business conference, the event also included globally renowned and highly anticipated Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards ceremony. This award ceremony is for recognising and rewarding leading visionaries in the field of philanthropy and leadership and awards them for their significant and long-term contributions in philosophy with the objective of achieving empowerment within the nation.
Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was conferred with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021. Dr. Mahtani received this award for redefining the banking industry of Zambia. Dr. Mahtani has more than three decades of business and philanthropic experience. He is the founder and current chairman of Mahtani Group, a company founded in the year 1981. Since then, the company has transformed itself into one of the biggest conglomerates across Zambia, South Africa, Malawi as well as international locations such as United Kingdom. Similarly, the company has expanded its presence across several industries including energy, mining, agriculture, real estate, insurance, banking and several others. Across all these industries, Dr. Mahtani has been able to achieve high standards, transformed the industrial landscape and contributed in the form of employment and livelihood opportunities, community development and overall enhancement of societal life. Apart from his direct business contributions, Dr. Mahtani is also noted for his philanthropic contributions. Some of the major contributions include Prison Fellowship Zambia for care and justice for the inmates as well as Stephen Malama award and scholarship for top graduates in Zambia.
