The President of Zambia has Full Support For The Recent Decision On The Death Penalty.

On the occasion of Africa Day, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema announced his intention to repeal the death penalty statute. It is a dated law from a previous age that is irrelevant in the present social and economic system. Well-known businessman and philanthropist Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani gave this decision his complete support. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is one of Zambia and Africa’s most well-known and celebrated business leaders. The Mahtani Group of Companies and Finsbury Investments are only two of the successful, long-running companies he has overseen for more than 40 years. In 2021, Dr. Rajan Mahtani won Forbes’ “Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year” honour. This honour was granted to Dr. Rajan Mahtani in recognition of his significant contributions to the restructuring of Zambia’s banking sector.Dr. Mahtani received one of the Forbes “Best of Africa” awards, which are granted each year to outstanding individuals in business, philanthropy, and leadership. The Forbes-FIN Philanthropy and Leadership roundtable discussion takes place in conjunction with the “Best of Africa” awards ceremony. Members took part in this session remotely, and Dr. Rajan Mahtani was invited to speak as an honoured guest. In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, it was conducted online. Dr. Rajan Mahtani graciously accepted the honours and thanked his team members and Almighty God for their belief in him.

Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani’s extensive philanthropic works, such as Prison Fellowship Zambia and the Stephen Malama Award and Scholarship for Zambia’s top law graduates, were also recognized. Zambia’s president, Hakainde Hichilema, reportedly stated that he intended to completely repeal the death penalty law. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani praised the president of Zambia’s decision and asserted that the death penalty is cruel, barbaric, and disgusting. The decision will be supported fully in terms of law and regulation, and Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani’s organisation Prison Fellowship Zambia will endeavour to see that it is implemented as quickly as feasible.
