Death Penalty Unethical, To Be Abolished By Present Zambian President.

Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a businessman and philanthropist from Zambia, recently reaffirmed his unshakable support for the candidate for president. On Africa Day, Zambia’s president, Hakainde Hichilema, announced that his nation would completely abolish the death penalty. Dr. Rajan Mahtani stated that he totally agreed with this statement because the death sentence is an antiquated law that is cruel, barbaric, and demeaning. The use of the death penalty in legal procedures is already prohibited throughout the majority of the world, including Africa. The government of Zambia’s announcement was therefore overdue. The former president of Zambia has been purposely avoiding death row, continued Dr. Rajan Mahtani. The latest execution under President Chiluba took place in 1997. Since then, presidents have utilized their powers of compassion to deftly avoid the death penalty. However, none of these presidents has actually made an effort to deal with the issue’s underlying causes. Dr. Rajan Mahtani applauded the Zambian President’s selection because only someone who is passionate, respects the rule of law, respects the right to life, respects fundamental human rights, and respects basic human dignity will be able to make such decisions. The out-of-date law, according to Dr. Rajan Mahtani, must be repealed as soon as possible because it has no place in the present legal system. There are many jails in Zambia with appalling living conditions. Presidents and Vice Presidents have previously visited maximum security prisons, disclosing the horrible conditions within that some have dubbed “hell on earth.” The Zambian government has responded by leading the way in strategic business decongestion through Correctional Facilities and Parole Board Zambia (PBZ). Inmates are released here after undergoing a full makeover. It would be ludicrous to condemn the inmates to death in this case because they are already being punished. Some inmates in Zambia’s toughest jails lack even the most fundamental aspects of human decency. The proclamation of the death sentence is thus a step in the right direction for the president of Zambia.
