Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a noted Zambian businessman, was recently conferred with one of the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards category. Forbes business recognized the contribution of Dr. Rajan Mahtani towards redefining the banking sector of Zambia and conferred him with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021. The Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ is among the highest-rated awards across Africa. The awardees are selected by Forbes itself, which is known for its global rankings and lists of businesses, visionaries, leaders, entrepreneurs, and several other rankings. Furthermore, the process of selecting the recipients for the awards is extremely rigorous yet transparent. The process comprises months of verification processes and background checking by both Forbes and FIN. This is followed by interviews and discussions with the potential recipients to understand their views on philanthropy to achieve long-term empowerment across the African nation.
Mark Furlong, the founder, and publisher of Forbes Afrique Media (FAM) and Forbes International anchored this event, along with the Forbes-FIN philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference. The Forbes-FIN roundtable conference was held virtually because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and Dr. Rajan Mahtani was invited to this roundtable conference as an honorary speaker. Furthermore, Dr. Mahtani was the only major businessman selected from the entire Zambia for this prestigious award. Dr. Mahtani is the owner of several top companies in Zambia, including Mahtani Group of Companies and Finsbury Investments. He is the founder and current group chairman of Mahtani Group, a multinational conglomerate that has established itself in Zambia and Africa. The conglomerate has expanded to several sectors including agriculture, mining, insurance, finance, energy, real estate, and several others. Similarly, Finsbury Investments has made significant contributions by providing investment opportunities and support to several small & medium enterprises. At the same time, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was also recognized for his philanthropic and charitable contributions. Some of his top philanthropic contributions are Prison Fellowship Zambia and the Stephen Malama award and scholarship for top law graduates in Zambia.
