Dr. Rajan Mahtani is considered as one of the most successful yet transparent and honest businessman in Zambia. His companies such as Finsbury Investments, Mahtani Group of Companies are reputable institutions in Zambia. As a business nature, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has numerous business, professional and personal relationships with entities, noted personalities, politicians and businessmen. One of them was with Levy Mwanawasa, the late Ex-President of Zambia. Dr. Rajan Mahtani had a long-standing professional and personal reltionship with the ex-President and even after his demise, Dr. Mahtani provided support to the family. However, a shocking and surprising even occurred few months back when Miriam Mwanawasa, daughter of the late ex-President, shared a social media post defaming Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani. Miriam Mwanawasa shared a social media post in which she claimed that Dr. Rajan Mahtani wanted to inherit the land owned by the Mwanawasa family at the Masaiti District. As a result of this social media post, several questions were raised and Dr. Rajan Mahtani decided to reply back with a press release.
In this press release, Dr. Rajan Mahtani clearly stated that even though he has maintained a long-lasting and transparent professional and personal relationship with the Zambian ex-President, he never made such intentions and never made any claims of taking over the Mwanawasa-owned farmland. At the same time, Dr. Rajan Mahtani also said that the social media post shared by the late-President’s daughter did not have any weight as it was without evidence, support. As a result, it is clear that the claims made by the daughter of the ex-President of Zambia were fake and had only one purpose, to defame the reputation of a noted businessmen in Zambia. Dr. Rajan Mahtani further stated that though the real intentions behind sharing such a malignant, ludicrous and baseless claim via social media was unknown, he will be taking strict actions against this post and the actions which resulted in significance nuisance for Dr. Mahtani apart from disrupting his business operations.
