Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a noted philanthropist and business person from Zambia, recently won the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards. For his significant business and philanthropic contributions, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was awarded with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021. Dr. Mahtani is credited for redefining the banking sector of Zambia. Some of the top business contributions from Dr. Mahtani include Mahtani Group of Companies and Finsbury Investments. His company the Mahtani Group was established in the year 1981 and since then, it has transformed itself into a major conglomerate. The Mahtani group not only expanded to national and international locations such as Malawi, Zambia, South Africa and several international locations, but also expanded to several sectors. Some of these sectors included agriculture, mining, energy, real estate, insurance and finance. Across all these sectors, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani has worked towards development of the sector by increasing the standards, providing opportunities for employment, livelihood as well as overall improvement of the sectors. In a similar manner, Finsbury Investment is an investment company that has worked towards providing investment and financial support to several Zambian as well as African projects. Several public sector developments including schools, housing projects, hospitals and similar projects have been accomplished under the leadership and support of Finsbury Investments as well as Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is the founder and current chairman of the Prison Fellowship Zambia, a program affiliated to PFI (Prison Fellowship International). The program focusses on providing criminal justice and welfare for the inmates, ex-inmates as well as their families. In a similar manner, Dr. Mahtani founded the Stephen Malama award.
