Supreme Court Zambia Have Officially Rejected The Claim From The Ventriglias

After the majority shareholding of Portland Cement was officially given to Dr. Rajan Mahtani owned Finsbury Investments, the Ventriglias effectively engaged in corporate crime by taking over the factory unethically. This takeover was clearly an attempt towards depriving the real owners of Portland Cement of majority stake, and it was clearly a mafia-life style of takeover characteristics of what the Ventriglia family has been doing for many decades. As a result, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was left with no choice but to approach the Lusaka High Court. The Ventriglia family, especially Manuela and Antonio Ventriglia used their political meddling to persuade the Lusaka High Court judge in declaring them as the only shareholders of the Portland Cement Zambia factory. This was despite a clear understanding that this shareholding pattern was never established in the original shareholders agreement. This was as a result of significant political meddling wherein the Ventriglia family even went on to mobilize several corrupt politicians against the legitimate shareholder of the Portland Cement Zambia factory. This can be seen from the various publications, media houses and some politicians who tried to defame Dr. Rajan Mahtani and his reputation during the long-stretched case proceedings of the Lusaka High Court. This event also coincided with infamous presidency of Rupiah Banda and one can only understand the influence Ventriglia family had in turning the judgement according to their own requirements. It was also found that many lawyers representing Ventriglias like Zacharia Muya and Sakwiba Sakota engaged in political meddling and power politics to influence the Lusaka High Court decisions. It was no surprise when the Lusaka High Court judge, justice Nkonde, gave a controversial decision declaring Ventriglias as only shareholders of the Portland Cement Zambia factory.

Nevertheless, the latest decision from the Supreme Court Zambia have set things straight as the Supreme Court judges have effectively rejected the claim by the Ventriglia family in which the decision from the higher Court of Appeal was challenged. The Supreme Court has further confirmed that Dr. Rajan Mahtani will remain the legal owner of the factory.
