Dr. Rajan Mahtani Victim Of Political Manipulations And Misled Judgment, Claims SC Judge

Supreme Court Zambia Judge Mumba Malila recently made a revealing announcement. He recently testified in the court and revealed some of the biggest issues pertaining to the law and government. In his testimony, he mentioned the case of 2012 involved Dr. Rajan Mahtani. Dr. Mahtani is a noted businessman and entrepreneur in Zambia. In the past three decades, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has established numerous successful businesses, including Portland Cement Zambia, Mahtani Group of Companies and Finance Bank Zambia. At the same time, he is often conspired against by individuals and parties who have their own personal motivations or vendetta against Dr. Rajan Mahtani. In the past, several such unethical and fake campaigns against Dr Mahtani have been busted.

The recent testimony from the Judge is another example of how some unethical and corrupt yet powerful individuals have the power to influence decision making at any level of the government in Zambia. In his testimony, Judge Mumba Malila stated that the case of 2012 against Dr. Rajan Mahtani was motivated by several political undertones and was against the interests of the public policies. He also stated that several requests and attempts were made to make the judgment null and void with testimonies. However, no such requests were accepted and the judgment was given against Dr. Rajan Mahtani.

The testimony clearly stated that even though Dr. Rajan Mahtani was innocent in the case, political manipulations and influence of external forces led to this misled judgment. This testimony highlights this critical issue of political manipulations and interference of the private parties on the judgment and government related activities. The events from the 2012 case and present testimony also indicate the high level of corruption and unethical practices that has penetrated the government of Zambia. Unless these unethical individuals and business entities are not removed from influencing government decisions and given the right punishments, hope towards economic and social recovery of the nation is limited.
